The National Cherry Blossom Festival marks one of the busiest seasons for City Cruises. The city comes alive as over 1.5M tourists flock to the Tidal Basin to catch a glimpse of the beautiful blooms. With hundreds of events and activations planned around the city to celebrate the festival, WHA is responsible for breaking through the noise and positioning City Cruises as one of the best ways for visitors and locals alike to experience the festival.
WHA also secured significant media coverage for City Cruises during the festival, garnering 15 earned media hits in 2023, with most offering primary share of voice for the brand. We coordinated live TV remotes from the river with several of D.C.’s local TV stations and secured headlines in Washingtonian, Alexandria Living Magazine, and beyond. This earned media coverage increased awareness of City Cruises’ offerings both during the festival and beyond and positioned the experiences as “must-do” attractions in Washington D.C.
In 2024, we invited four notable D.C. influencers to come aboard the ships and experience City Cruises’ offerings for the festival, from the Potomac Water Taxi to luxury dining aboard their dining vessels. Influencers created organic content showcasing the experiences from their perspective, which created a strong third-party endorsement from trusted tastemakers in the area. The influencer partnerships garnered over 53,600 post interactions and had a reach of nearly 589,000.
