Public Relations Intern

WHA is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Public Relations Intern to join our team. This internship is designed for current undergraduate students pursuing a degree in Public Relations, Mass Communication, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field. Interns will gain hands-on experience supporting client accounts, developing communications materials, engaging with media, and creating digital content.

You’ll work alongside experienced public relations professionals, participate in agency meetings, and contribute to projects that help shape client communications strategies. This is an ideal opportunity for students interested in agency life and looking to build a strong portfolio of writing, media relations, and content development work.  Interested candidates should follow the application instructions below.

What You’ll Do

  • Draft press releases, media alerts, pitches, and other press materials
  • Research and develop targeted media lists 
  • Develop content for digital and social media channels 
  • Attend special events and media opportunities 
  • Learn media monitoring and reporting skills 
  • Participate in team brainstorming sessions and contribute ideas for campaigns and client programs 
  • Experience the day-to-day of working in a PR firm

Qualifications: 

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program studying Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or similar coursework, Junior or Senior preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent research skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with social media platforms
  • Show initiative, curiosity, professionalism, and a willingness to learn

Duration and Compensation: 

This is a part-time internship position available for the duration of the summer and/or fall semester. We request 12-15 hours per week, with at least 6 of those hours being completed in-person at our office. The internship is unpaid and may be eligible for course credit, depending on the candidate’s university requirements.
